History of Nursing Writing Prize for 2015

Eligibility: Open to undergraduate and graduate students, from any faculty, at Canadian universities and community colleges.

Value: $500, a one year membership in the Allemang Society, and an opportunity to publish your paper in our newsletter
Deadline: June 30, 2015
Criteria for submission
The paper may deal with any topic in the history of nursing in any period and in any country.
Papers should be a minimum of 8 pages and maximum of 25 pages in length.
Papers may be submitted by email or in hard copy. Electronic copies should be in Microsoft Word and include academic affiliation, address, and telephone number. Those submitting hard copy should send 3 copies: one copy only with name, academic affiliation, address, telephone number and email.

Speaker: Joyce MacQueen

Title: Nursing in a Northern Ontario one-industry town 1933-1974: Forty-two nurses tell their story

Place: to be announced

Nurse historian Joyce MacQueen, chair of the Sudbury Nursing History Group, will base her discussion on interviews with Sudbury nurses.  As lead researcher, she  spearheaded this five year oral history project now successfully concluded.  The project was supported by the Allemang Society and local Sudbury benefactors.

Admission is free. Non-members are welcome.
